1. PROJECT TITLE
Developing Agent Based Modelling and Micro Simulation Techniques for Public Policy Analysis in Ireland.
2. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
There is not always a linear relationship between the level of resources invested in a
particular public policy initiative, and the quality of the outcome in terms of collective
improvement in circumstances for citizens. It can often be difficult to see how the
overall societal effects of public policies emerge from the actions of individual
citizens. My aim is to build a validated and verified simulated population database
for the Republic of Ireland, and use this database as a means of evaluating the effect
of existing policies at the micro level, and for developing new tools and techniques
which can be applied to this simulated database to test the possible effects of changes
in government policy on the population as a whole, and specific targeted subgroups.
